What this game teaches

Nutrition advice fails when it is abstract. Comparing two real options you might actually buy is closer to how eating decisions are made, and it shows that the healthier-sounding choice is not always the better one.

The explanations focus on the levers with the strongest evidence behind them: fibre, the quality of the fat, added sugar, sodium, and how much protein a meal carries. Those four or five things do most of the work in an everyday eating pattern.

Swaps are deliberately modest. Nothing here asks you to overhaul what you eat — the aim is to show that a series of small substitutions changes a week more reliably than a diet you abandon in nine days.
