What this game teaches
Visible progress is one of the few habit techniques with a decent track record. A filled grid makes consistency concrete, and the gaps are informative rather than shameful.
The cap of five habits is deliberate. Tracking everything is the fastest way to abandon tracking, and five is roughly the number most people sustain past the first fortnight.
Each habit shows a current streak and a best streak. Keeping both on screen makes the point that a broken chain does not erase what came before it — you are restarting from experience, not from zero.
